Pompom

For Android TV & Google TV

Only the YouTube episodes you pick, on your kids' TV.

Hand-picked shows for little ones. Pompom turns your TV into a calm, closed world of the episodes you choose. No autoplay, no recommendations, no rabbit holes. Just their favorite shows, as big friendly tiles.

Set up in about a minute ยท Free during early access

Pompom in one sentence: a free app for Android TV and Google TV where parents pick individual YouTube episodes from their phone, and kids ages 1โ€“8 see only those episodes, with no search, no autoplay and no recommendations.

Set up in a minute

No typing on the TV. No passwords to remember.

  1. 1

    Open Pompom on your TV

Install Pompom on your Android TV or Google TV. It shows a QR code and a short code.

  2. 2

    Scan it with your phone

Sign in with Google and choose who the TV is for. That's the whole setup, with no typing on the TV.

  3. 3

    Pick the episodes

Paste YouTube links from your phone. Each show becomes a big tile on the TV, and only those episodes play.

Screen time, on your terms

A closed list, really

Your kid sees only the episodes you added. There's no search, no recommendations, no autoplay into the unknown. When a video ends, Pompom goes back to the shows.

Pick episodes, not channels

Add the 6 Bluey episodes you love, not the whole channel. Long compilations or single episodes, it's your call.

Made for little hands

Big, colorful show tiles a 2-year-old can navigate with the remote. Episode lengths on every thumbnail, so you know what you're agreeing to.

Run it from your phone

Add, remove and reorder from anywhere. Changes reach the TV within a minute, and you can unpair a TV with one tap.

One library per kid

Different kids, different shows. Pair each TV to the kid who watches it.

Calm by design

No comments, no likes, no Shorts feed, and nothing designed to keep them watching longer.

Episodes, not channels

Most tools approve whole channels or filter a huge catalog. Pompom starts empty and holds only what you add.

Questions parents ask

How do I let my toddler watch only specific YouTube videos on the TV?+

Install Pompom on your Android TV or Google TV, scan the code it shows with your phone, and paste the YouTube links you want. Your toddler sees only those episodes, as big tiles, with no search and no autoplay.

Is there a YouTube Kids app for Android TV or Google TV anymore?+

No. Google retired the standalone YouTube Kids app for smart TVs in 2024; on TVs, kids now use a profile inside the main YouTube app. Pompom is a separate Android TV and Google TV app that shows only the episodes you pick.

Which TVs does Pompom work on?+

Pompom runs on Android TV and Google TV: TCL, Sony, Hisense, Philips, Chromecast with Google TV and others. It doesn't run on Fire TV, Roku, Samsung (Tizen) or LG (webOS) yet. On those, a Chromecast with Google TV works. The parent app runs in any phone browser, on iPhone and Android.

Can I approve single episodes instead of a whole channel?+

Yes, that's how Pompom works. You add individual YouTube videos, like the 6 Bluey episodes you like, and group them into show tiles. Nothing else from the channel appears.

Can I stop YouTube autoplay on the TV for my kid?+

In Pompom there's no autoplay and no 'next' button. When an episode ends, Pompom goes back to your kid's shows instead of playing something new.

Does Pompom work with Google TV kids profiles?+

Yes. Add Pompom as an allowed app in a Google TV kids profile, and leave YouTube out, so the TV itself stays inside the shows you picked.

What age is Pompom for?+

Pompom is made for little kids, roughly ages 1 to 8. The big show tiles are easy to navigate with a TV remote before kids can read.

Can my kid get to other YouTube videos from Pompom?+

No. Pompom shows only the episodes you added. There's no search and no recommendations, and the player has no 'next' button. When a video ends, Pompom returns to your kid's shows.

Does Pompom block YouTube ads?+

No. Pompom plays videos with YouTube's official embedded player, and YouTube decides whether to show ads, as it does on any website. What Pompom removes is everything else: recommendations, autoplay, search and comments.

Is it free?+

Pompom is free during early access.

What do you know about my kids?+

Only what you type in: a first name and the shows you pick. Kids don't have accounts and nothing on the TV tracks them. Parents sign in with Google so your lists stay private to your family. See our privacy policy for details.

How is this different from YouTube Kids?+

YouTube Kids is a whole catalog with recommendations, picked by an algorithm. Pompom starts empty and holds only what you choose, episode by episode, laid out as big show tiles on the TV.

Some videos won't add. Why?+

A few channels don't allow their videos to play outside youtube.com. Pompom checks this when you paste a link and tells you right away, so nothing breaks on the TV.

Give them the shows you love.

Set up your family, then open Pompom on the TV and scan.
